Tavala Vadai

A nice variation to aama vada. This one has 4 lentils.
Ingredients
Chenna Dal ½ cup
Urad Dal ½ cup
Tuvar Dal ½ cup
Moong Dal ½ cup
Raw rice ½ cup
Red chillies 7 or 8
Green chillies 5 or 6
Ginger
Cilantro chopped
Curry leaves
Coconut
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Salt about 2 ½ tsp
Asafoetida

1. Soak Chenna dal, tuvar dal and rice together. Soak the moong dal and urad dal separately in different containers (
2. Wash the rice-dal mixture well, grind it to a rough consistency with salt,red chillies, asafoetida.
3. Grind the urad dal like u would grind it for idlis.
4. Drain the water from the moong dal completely.
5. Cut the coconut into tiny, thin pieces. Cut the ginger and green chillies.
6. Mix all together. Season this with the mustard seeds. The consistency of the batter should be such that it can be poured.
7. Heat some oil for frying. Using a ladle, pour the batter into random shaped vadais.
8. Turn them over twice or thrice. Once done, they are reddish in colour
